MAIN DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED:

 

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Department of the Elderly Division of the Ministry of Gender Family and Social Services, the support staff will do the below activities:

1. Plan and assist in the implementation of policies on the promotions and wellbeing of elderly,

2. Coordinate with relevant State institutions and conduct advocacy/awareness programs in partnership with State and civil society organizations at atoll and island level, to promote the rights of elderly rights and wellbeing.

3. Coordinate with relevant authorities to identify and research on emerging issues related to elderly rights and wellbeing in partnership with State and civil society organizations at atoll and island level.

4. Create public awareness on safeguarding the rights of elderly strengthen family ties and enhance parenting skills.

5. Coordinate with relevant state institutions and conduct awareness programs targeting the elderly population and their care givers in relation to healthy aging.

6. Work closely to protect and promote the rights and wellbeing of senior citizens in the Maldives with a special focus on care and protection, independence and participation, health and wellbeing and preparation for retirement.

7. Assist in developing advocacy materials to promote healthy aging.

8. Assist in developing programs to mark special days related to elderly.

9. Coordinate with World Health Organization (WHO) in achieving key targets in the annual work plan.

10. Maintaining proper records, filing and completing all the administrative program related work.

11. Asist in arranging meetings and completing meting records.

12. Other tasks related to elderly well-being and advocacy as designated by Section Head.

Educational Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in social/health related field or completed diploma in a social/health related field with one year’s work experience in a similar field after completion of studies.

Experience

Required :  one year’s work experience in a similar field after completion of studies.

Knowledge and skills

Ability to work with minimal supervision

High level written and oral communications skills in English and Dhivehi

Must be result-oriented, a team player, exhibiting high levels of enthusiasm diplomacy and integrity

•Understanding of the Maldivian health context.

•Able to travel to islands and work with the local communities.

•Must be able to manage diverse view points and work in demanding situations.

Computer Literacy

Computer literate, including MS Office package and use of email, internet, etc.

Languages

Proficient in Spoken and Written English and Dhivehi
